FERRI's side access system for the F-110 frigates passes its acceptance tests

FERRI has shown the side access system developed for the F-110 frigates in operation, following the recent commissioning of the company’s new test rig. It is a critical safety system: the point through which the crew embarks and disembarks, both in port and on the high seas.
Flush with the hull and designed for the sea
The equipment is designed to sit flush with the ship’s hull. It incorporates a ladder of almost 6 metres configured for the simultaneous transit of up to 16 personnel, with a load of 1,200 kg. Its design allows operation at angles between 20° and 60°, ensuring reliable access both when berthing and during high-seas operations.
A demanding validation process
The path to validation is rigorous. Before the formal Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), the system goes through numerous internal cycles and adjustments. And once the FAT are cleared, FERRI goes a step further: it strips the equipment down completely, reassembles it and subjects it to a final, comprehensive battery of tests to ensure every component is perfectly calibrated.
The company’s philosophy sums it up: functionality is only the starting point, and peak reliability at sea begins with absolute rigour ashore.
Access systems serving navies
FERRI’s access systems are designed for the fast and safe embarkation, disembarkation and transfer of troops and crews, integrated into the side doors and into the ship’s own structure. They are in service on vessels of leading naval forces, including the Spanish Navy, the British Royal Navy, the Royal Australian Navy and the German Navy.
