FERRI to design and manufacture the main crane for the U.S. Coast Guard Arctic Security Cutters
Rauma Marine Constructions Oy has awarded the Vigo-based company the contract for a key component of these vessels, designed to operate in polar environments.

Industrias FERRI has been awarded the contract to design and manufacture the main crane for the Arctic Security Cutters, the U.S. Coast Guard vessels intended to operate in polar waters. The order comes from the Rauma Marine Constructions Oy shipyard.
Working in these latitudes demands absolute reliability. Conditions in polar environments leave no margin for error, and it is precisely in this field that FERRI has built a proven track record: engineering specialised equipment for extreme conditions.
A product line fitted on more than 200 vessels
Cranes are one of the company’s flagship product lines. FERRI has equipped more than 200 vessels worldwide with designs adapted to the most stringent classification rules, in articulated, telescopic, fixed or folding configurations. In the naval and defence sector, each crane is developed specifically for the vessel and its mission, using lightweight, high-strength materials that optimise the load-to-weight ratio.
Confidence in FERRI’s technology
The company has expressed its gratitude for the confidence Rauma Marine Constructions Oy has placed in its technology and expertise for a project it describes as critical, and looks ahead to the coming months with the aim of delivering it together with the shipyard.
